UK STUDENT DEPENDENT VISA:

When to apply for a visa for a dependent

A dependent may apply at the same time as the applicant for a study in the UK or after the applicant has received the visa decision.

When the applicant has applied for further leave to remain in the United Kingdom after completing their studies in the United Kingdom but has not yet received a decision, family members must wait until his permit is approved before submitting their permit for entry clearance.

Where to use

Similar to applying for a study in the uk, dependents must apply for nationality or country of residence in their home country. The application will be submitted digitally. For each dependent, an individual application must be filled out.

In the majority of nations, an appointment to attend the visa application centre for biometrics enrollment and the submission of supporting documents is scheduled as part of the online application process.

Financial requirements

The visa applicants’ dependents must have sufficient funds to cover the cost of living in the United Kingdom. The visa is valid for £680 per month, up to a maximum of nine months. This totals £6,120 per dependent if the visa is granted for nine months or longer (9 x £680).

The funds must be in the student’s or spouse’s/partner’s name. If the holder of the UK Student Visa has an official sponsor who covers the living expenses of any dependents, a letter from the sponsor stating this may be submitted to satisfy the financial requirements.

What is the processing time for a study in the UK from India?

The standard processing time for a study in the UK is 3 weeks (15 days) after the application has been submitted. To inquire about any delays, students can contact the British High Commission or VFS, which administers visa application centres for the UK Border Agency in India.

Applicants can also monitor the status of their visa application by subscribing to the VFS SMS alert service or by using their online tracking system. You will be contacted if the processing time for your UK student visa application is delayed due to complexity, such as if: your supporting documents need to be verified; you need to attend an interview; or your personal circumstances (for example, if you have a criminal conviction) require further investigation.
