Several of the significant actions announced

Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) processing periods for spouse applicants will now be quicker.
For candidates for spousal TRV, new processing tools will be available.
There will be a new open work permits for Canada available to candidates in the spousal and family classes.
For those whose open work permits for Canada expire between August 1 and the end of 2023, extensions will be available.
In a statement, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that the majority of these applications would now be processed within 30 days and that applicants would get access to processing procedures tailored to their needs as spouses and dependents. These new tools have already been used to process several applications. We have observed a 93% approval rate for this group of applications.
For spouse candidates and their dependent children who live in Canada with their sponsor and have temporary resident status, Canada has made open work permits available.
The spouse or common-law partner in Canada class (SPCLC) or other family class programs now allow spouses, partners, and dependents to apply for and receive an open work permit as soon as they submit a complete permanent residence application.
Fraser also revealed that open work permit holders, including spousal applicants, who have open work permits that expire between August 1 and the end of 2023 will be allowed to renew them for an extra 18 months. Many people with post-graduation work permits that were about to expire recently received a similar choice.
Canada has been progressively enhancing customer service and expediting the application procedure. Across all of our business lines, IRCC finalized more than 5.2 million applications in 2022, which led to millions of people receiving decisions on their cases.
Beginning in July 2022, new spousal sponsorship applicants can anticipate that their applications will be handled within the regular 12-month processing time (in 80% of cases for non-Quebec applications).
In a variety of situations, foreign nationals may be awarded open Canadian works permits; however, not all of them will be eligible for an extension under this quick processing system. Only those awaiting a decision on their applications for permanent residence and their spouses, family class-sponsored spouses with valid temporary resident status and their dependent children, spouses and common-law partners of the majority of work permit holders and their dependent children, and spouses and common-law partners of those with study permits will be eligible for the extension.
