The Skilled Independent Subclass 189 visa is a points-based permanent visa issued to skilled workers who are not sponsored by an Australian employer, family member, or state/territory. To qualify for a Skilled Independent visa (Subclass 189), applicants must score at least 65 points on the point evaluation. To apply for this visa, candidates must submit an expression of interest (EOI) and be invited by SkillSelect. After receiving an invitation to apply (ITA) for this visa, your application must be submitted within sixty days.

The 189 Visa (Skilled Independent) allows the visa holder and accompanying family members to reside, study, and work  in Australia as permanent residents.
